Finger Introduces EtherCAT Remote Module - Mini Size, Higher Configuration

EtherCAT is an open architecture in the automation industry, based on real-time Ethernet as a fieldbus system. Originally developed by Beckhoff, a German company, EtherCAT is a deterministic industrial Ethernet designed to meet the communication requirements of automation, such as short update times (cycle time), low communication jitter during data synchronization, and cost-effective hardware. The purpose of developing EtherCAT is to enable Ethernet to be used in automation applications.


Finger offers a rich variety of EtherCAT products with complete models and excellent performance. Especially, their Smart series plug-in IO directly utilizes EtherCAT as the backplane bus, perfectly embodying all the features of EtherCAT technology, without the time loss seen in other backplane bus products, supporting distributed clocks and star topology. It is one of the few plug-in IO products in the automation field that can be comparable to related products from Beckhoff in terms of performance and functionality. In February 2023, Finger launched the SMART series EtherCAT remote module, featuring a compact design with the smallest volume. The IO modules come in 32-point configurations (16 IN/16 OUT or 32 IN or 32 OUT), meeting the requirements of compact electrical cabinet layout and making the most efficient use of space in extremely limited environments.


In addition to IO modules, the SMART series EtherCAT remote module family includes DAC modules, ADC modules, high-speed counting modules, pulse axis control modules, temperature control modules, and many other products, laying a solid foundation for the one-stop automation solution.
